Here's some information to know while you plan on your itinerary for Green Planet Dubai.
The Green Planet at Dubai’s City Walk is a bio-dome designed to educate guests on the dangers facing the world’s rainforests. It is an immersive experience, designed to allow its inhabitants to live as they would in the wild, with a broadly diverse ecosystem of creatures and jungle creatures.
The indoor bio-dome is home to more than 3,000 different fauna, flora and wildlife, and has its own jungle-like ecosystem.
Using leading scientists, zoologists and architects from around the world, the giant, 45 metre-tall cube-like structure is built around a man-made tree that stands 25 metres tall.
Start at the Flooded Forest, around which an aquarium of stingrays, motoro rays, archer fish, arapaima and turtles swim happily around giving visitors a good view of their antics.
The aquatic collection also includes 1,000 piranhas and at 4pm every day this red-bellied razor-sharp toothed species – deemed as one of the most aggressive and dangerous of their kind – gets fed. A pretty impressive spectacle, which can be watched for those who are brave enough.
Gazing upwards through a cavernous hole, vines, branches and the canopy of the tree splay out like a network of natural pathways.
The indoor tropical rainforest also has two linnaeus two-toed sloths, twin tamarin brothers, adorable sugar gliders, squirrel monkeys and plenty of birds, as well as reptiles such as the Burmese python and insects.
And if you’re not afraid of the dark, then take a step into the bat-cave, too, for a fun, up-close experience with the flying critters.
In addition, The Green Planet’s Zookeeper for the day (Dhs390 per person) launched in 2020 and gives the chance to experience a day in the life of a Green Planet Biologist. The experience has now been modified to suit a group of up to six people, and includes a three-hour guided tour of the facility, along with animal feeding, behind the scenes experience of animal care and up close interaction with some of The Green Planet residents.
And if you’ve ever had a burning question about a sloth, or fancied a private feeding session with an archer fish, you can sign up to a personal VIP tour of The Green Planet for Dhs160 per person. Get shown the hidden parts of the bio-dome and receive a fully guided tour, a live Archer Fish feeding and get up close and personal with a snake or lizard meet and greet. One group (up to six people) at one time to follow social distancing guidelines.
Families can even book to spend the night at the indoor biodome and fall asleep to the sound of the jungle for Dhs700 for two people and Dhs1,200 for four people, plus The Green Planet also hosts various half term and school holiday camps for the kids.
